I love anything by Max!

What can I say but this: you've got to get this book! It's uplifting, inspirational, and (like all of Max's books) very well, very smoothly written.
A must read for the holidays!
And if you like this kind of inspirational book, you've got to read Christmas Gifts, Christmas Voices by John Allen. You'll cry and be inspired!

I wasn't the target audience for this little book

As the title suggests, this little 4" x 7", 48 page, square bound card cover is intended as a "stocking stuffer" gift at Christmas and that's how it came to me. It can easily be read in 5 to 10 minutes. The book first appeared in 2002 and has gone through at least 16 printings so it seems to be filling a real need.
The thesis of the book is that a person must accept Jesus' forgiveness before he or she can effectively give love themselves. While this might be an uplifting and effective message to the Christian who travels in exclusively Christian circles the Christian with friends and acquaintances outside the Christian community will be put off by such an arrogant claim. Surely author Lucado isn't suggesting that other cultures' families, relationships, communities, etc lack any of the love found among Christians? I suspect in his enthusiasm for his faith and desire to deliver a powerful seasonal message he didn't quite grasp all the implications of his book.
Besides this, it was interesting that the Lucado needed 8 or 9 different Biblical translations to quote from. The use of the New Living Translation especially raises eyebrows given its reputation as more of a rewrite than a literal translation.
In short, if giving as a gift be sure the recipient won't take offense even if the author no doubt did not intend any.

worth reading

I purchased this little book packed full of GODS love for us after receiving it for a gift from my church. I liked it so much I tried to order some to give away for Christmas, but they were on backorder. I ordered them when they came in gave them away for Christmas presents afterward... we should celebrate Jesus's birth everyday anyway. GREAT READ!
